Application Name
Brief Introduction
Solution Offered
Challenges
ELIB (Mohanty et al. 2020)
An efficient lightweight,
integrated Blockchain
(ELIB) model for IoT
security and privacy
The ELIB model proposes an overlay network
where IoT devices can securely communicate. It
proposes various aspects such as consensus
algorithms, DTM (Distributed Throughput
Management) and certificate-less cryptography to
address the challenges.
The proposed solution can be further
expanded to other areas beyond the smart
home to examine better the capabilities
being offered, and the same can be
improved.
IDS (Kim et al. 2018)
Intrusion detection and
mitigation system using
blockchain analysis for
Bitcoin exchange
The solution utilizes the decentralized nature of
blockchain for the intrusion detection system
(IDS). The proposed solution works with a
traditional IDS, and the traditional intrusion
prevention system (IPS) is a fail-safe option. This
solution addresses the intrusions explicitly in
Bitcoin exchanges.
The solution is currently limited to Bitcoin
blockchain, and further research needs to
be carried out to extend it to other
blockchain-based cryptocurrencies. The
proposed solution does not do away with
traditional IPS and uses it as a fall-back
and fail-safe.
